Video and Audio don’t Match after 4 minutes
Posted by Darin Pope on March 16, 2006 at 9:48 pmWhen I digitized a piece of video that was 16 minutes long, during play back, at about the 4 minute mark, the audio and video don’t match up any more going from 2 frames off to as many as 5 frames off by the 12 minute mark. WHY IS THIS HAPPENING??

March 16, 2006 at 10:09 pmI’ve noticed audio video drift with DV converters most of the time. What are you digitizing? From what device? QT version, FCP version, hardware, we need more info to help.
Hope this helps-

Using FCP 5 w/ G5 capturing DVC Pro from Panasonic AJ-D250 Deck through FIREWIRE capture. It gets saved to an external HD, Lacie, even captured to internal HD with same problem. I set my settings to the same of a co-worker, he didn’t have the problem i’m having, HOWEVER he uses a different deck to import the video, the Panasonic AJ-D455.

March 16, 2006 at 11:07 pmWhat version QT? Are you using an easy setup? Is this 24p? Is this DVCpro 25 or DVCpro50? Sounds like a background process or your setup has been altered.
Hope this helps-

March 17, 2006 at 3:20 pmI’ve heard the capture now feature can cause this problem. Are you logging the clip & then capturing it?

March 17, 2006 at 3:52 pmGo into the bin window and scroll over to see what clock rate the clip was digitized at. I haven’t seen this for some time, but I have seen it where instead of 48k it showed up as 47.085 or something in the bin window…if that is the case, you will have to redigitize the clip and them make sure it has a solid 48k rate.
