Well, I am trying to capture a vhs tape for a friend, and as I am capturing into fcp in the log and capture window I am seeing black flashes throughout the video. But when I plug the vhs into the tv, there are no flashes and no stuttering. Is this a sync problem with me using a non-controllable device? Any setting in the multibridge that need to be set? Thanks Greg

Sometime the signal coming off a vhs tape is fine to screen but just not stable enough to capture.

You can try to first transfer it to Betacam SP (if you have access to one) and then play back through the beta deck’s TBC. That will stabilize it as much as possible and it may capture better.

    good luck.

    Hi.

What i have done to “sync” vhs is i made pass trough tiny sony camera which has analogue in and firewire out.
It gave me nice stable picture but only by fw not directly to capture card. It seems really hard for pro gear to negotiate with vhs with it’s unstable picture.

    Hope it helps.
