All I want to do is mirror my power book display on a VGA output. I have tried everything and today it worked for a few minutes but then it was gone again. Also my video in FCP would stutter when the display changed in resolution. Is there a problem with my computer? I do not think so. Please help!
    Sincerely,
    Patrick Morrow

    “I have tried everything”

    What exactly did you try?

I tried all three VGA resolutions and all 3 other resolutions in all combinations. None of them worked and when it worked on a fluke it did not stay. I use the F7 key to bring it up on the screen, from there I would try to make it work.
    Thanks!!!

When mirroring a display the computer looks at the setting of each display and must use the lower of the two screen resolutions. My guess is that your VGA display has a lower resolution then your Powerbooks built in LCD screen.

If you are trying to use a VGA screen to preview your video don’t have it set to mirrored and tell FCP to play back on the second screen.
