VFX for Film
Posted by Eric Sharon on June 18, 2005 at 1:20 pmI am working on film project in Xpress Pro. Can someone tell me how all of the visual effects are transfered to film?
Thanks,

June 18, 2005 at 1:58 pmYou create negative cutlists (optical cultists) and they get created either in the lab or scanned to digitally scanned for digital creation.

Thank you very much, once again. But what if I use certain plugins in AE (Allegorithmic for example), how will they be recreeated in lab?
Thanks,
Eric. -

June 18, 2005 at 2:31 pmAt this point, it would need to be eye-matched, the optical list would generate the pull list for the scanner, the FX house would recreate the FX shot digitally using the same plug-in or similar.

June 18, 2005 at 4:09 pmYour clips need to be logged with camera roll and KeyKode, this would be done for you already if you imported an ALE file or FLEx file from the transfer.
Then you use FilmScribe to generate all the lists you need for negative cutting, FX, etc. See the FilmScribe HTML output version for an example of these lists from a film I just completed:
