You can click it like you normally would in the finder, but if there are background processes going on it won’t let you. It can be very finicky.

Why not select the event in FCPX, go to file and use Duplicate the Event. A box comes up and you can name it whatever you like. Now the question is, if you then delete the original, do all the files remain? I haven’t test that.

Don’t double click or single click. Click (pause) click. You rename stuff in your Event Browser just like you re-name an icon on your desktop.

[Olly Lawer] “Thank you. Sure I tried that, but will try didn’t pauses. Bit odd isn’t it!”

Well, not when you realize that it’s just exactly the same convention that’s operated for folders in the finder since the Mac was introduced.

As Loren noted above, the selection process can be disabled if X is processing elsewhere. And that trips up a LOT of people. So it’s possible to try to select something but have it simply not work until the “under the hood” stuff that you’re having X do (knowingly or not) have been completed.

X seems simple, but under the hood it’s actually quite complex. And because of that, it kinda rewards patience and additive learning, not so much “dammit, I just I want to click where I think I should and have X react precisely as I think it should” ) expectations.

    ; )
