How do I use a lens flare in AE while still keeping my alpha channel? Lens Flare is applied to a black solid then set to add mode.

Apply the flare to a black solid, then change the blending mode. I think the mode to use is multiply.

    or

Use a plugin for unmultiplying. Search for Knoll Unmult.

Unmult is free and you can get it on the Red Giant website.

Wow, I thought for sure there was something I was doing wrong with the AE Flares. So no alpha integration with the bundled lens flares?? I’m putting that on my wish list for next version! Looks like I’ll be luma keying the black solids….lame. Thanks for the help!
