  • Very basic problem with brush tool and colour

    Hi,

Sorry if this seems utterly basic, but I’ve googled this for the last 2 days and still can’t find a solution.

When I select a colour and stroke size, then attempt to use the paintbrush tool (or pencil tool)- it defaults back to no colour and a thin black stroke.

This does not happen when I use the pen or rectangle tools.

    I’m using CS 5.5.

    Any help much appreciated!

Hey there, first off, what type of brush do you have selected? Also, if you have settings for a tablet or stylus and you’re using a mouse (for example, if the brush size is dependent on pressure), it can cause issues. Double-check your brush presets – you may have set something and not realized it. Barring that, you can always reset prefs (I think its CMD-OPT-SHIFT on startup or CTRL-ALT-SHIFT) or trash the prefs.

    Let us know. 🙂

    Save early. Save often.

I’m having the exact same problem. I’ve reset all of my preferences and have even reinstalled Ai. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!
