Vertical green lines of display card death?
My card has had troubles, heating up, etc., and i’m on a Mac with few new graphic card options other than replacing it with the same (ATI Radeon X800 XT). Yesterday my screen was filled with little vertical green lines. I can pretty much still work, but also see the (literal) writing on the wall that i need a new card. I’ve written before that the biggest bummer is that they are no longer making that card anymore – though it’s really the only one for the Power Mac G5, so my best alternative seems to be a new computer.
Anyway, not really asking a question here, just venting a little, and also maybe (okay, here’s a question) asking for the best vendors for a new card since i really can’t afford a new computer right now…The cards are pretty hard to find on the internet for under $300, even for a used one which seems like quite a gamble.
I’ve heard of people replacing fans in these cards for a few bucks, but now with green lines, maybe my card is beyond help? And if replacing a fan is a possibility, any idea how to do it?

Worth spending $20 to see if it solves your problem. The green lines just might mean its overheating. It might not be totally shot.

Sounds beyond help to me. That’s that happened to my X800 too. But I had big green blocks.
