Vertical Black Bars on export HDV to MPEG2-DVD
Hi,
I have not seen this topic described in the Cow despite searching.
I am working with HDV footage in Premiere Pro. My project settings are the default Premiere’s HDV project settings so nothing out of the ordinary.
The problem shows up when I try to export my HDV timeline using Adobe Media Encoder (AME) using the MPEG2-DVD setting. When I see the resultant output in the “Output Tab”, the footage has vertical black bars on the left and the right (like letterboxing, only vertical vs. horizontal). I cannot see any way to override the scaling. I’ve played with the “cropping” and “scale to fit” button but no luck.
I think it is a aspect ratio or resolution scaling issue (going from 1440 x1080 to 720 x 480 is not a direct multiplier) however I cannot figure out how to resize it in AME.
I could import the footage into a new Premiere project using SD settings and scaling all my stuff down, but I need to export to both SD and BluRay and want to work with 1 project.
This is consistent on Premiere Pro and Encore CS3 and CS4.
Anyone else see this issue or point me to another thread that allows me to correct this?
Thanks, Milton
