Cinema tools will not let me reverse telecine the non-flagged 59.94 capture. I get the following error: this movie does not have an NTSC frame rate.

When I just render the 59.94 clip in a 24p DVDPRO HD timeline, it seems to work fine. No duplicate frames and everything is in sync. The only thing I can figure out now is how to export a self contained clip and maintain the “source” time-code. I just want to re-import that clip so I don’t have to render again when I make changes.

When I exported the updated 24p movie from the “viewer” in FCP (as opposed to the timeline), it maintained the source clip time-code.

So what I eventually did in the end was:

Dropped the 59.94 file that was not properly flagged in a 24p timeline and rendered. Double checked that there were no duplicate frames and the audio was in sync. Then I exported that clip from the viewer as a self contained QT file and re-imported.

That would not be the current version of Cinema Tools,

CT does not need, nor see the flags from the RP188 timecode track, CT only sees frames and fields and should auto since the frame size that it is not SD footage>
The current version of CT is 3.1.2

Hi Gary,

Thanks for the follow-up, although I’m fine with the results after rendering in a 24p timeline, I’m curious how to convert this in CT.

I do have CT 3.1.2 – If I just open the clip in CT, the option to reverse telecine is not available (same in FCP). When I try batch “batch reverse telecine” I get the following error: this movie does not have an NTSC frame rate. What step am I missing?

Is there anything wrong with the rendering method I used?

then try conforming the clip to 29.97 and try again, this will not work with clips containing variable speed, and make sure you are on the first frame (frame 0 or 5) of the cadence. Remember too while the cadence order is called 3:2 it is actually 2:3
