    Hi everyone,

    3906_slivers.jpg.zip

I have a 1080i video which I want to burn on DVD. I use the Tools-Burn_disc-DVD option and burn the disc on DVD.

It look great on the flat panel TV but… when viewed on the PC using either PowerDVD or MS Media Player the part in the “movie” where I use a JPG does not fill the entire screen (See attached). YOu’ll notice that you can see the underlying video track on the left/right sides of the screenshot/jpg.

On a Widescreen TV… it looks perfect and I can’t see any underlying video track.

    any ideas?

Gilles, did you do a “Pan/Crop – Match Output Aspect” on the image?

    HI Mike,

I pan/cropped the image so I could get what I wanted in the frame. I should also have mentioned that this section of the video looks perfect in the preview window in Vegas too. no vertical slivers.

Gilles, you do come up with some oddball problems 🙂

All I can suggest is to move the image up one track and lay a solid colour white (make sure it’s at the same luminance level as your image) set to 1920 x 1080 (or whatever your project properties are) on a lower track.
    This should cover the slivers.

    Yes I do Mike 🙂

I thought of this workaround but was hoping to understand what goes on and fix it directly without working “around” the problem.

Gilles, my guess is that when you pan/cropped it, you changed the size ever so slightly and this is what ended up causing you grief.

    Hey Mike,

Wouldn’t I see the sides in the preview window if that were the case? As you can see from the sample, it’s not a matter of just 1 or 2 pixels.

Gilles, you would think that would be the case but I’ve been caught just like you were hence my suggestion to add another layer “just to be sure” 🙂

Was your project settings for DVD Widescreen or were they set to match the 1080i source?

Hi Mark, I had left the project settings as they were…. 1080i
