Vegas Streaming Copy Transport File
Among the many many missing niceties that MPEG Video Wizard featured that Vegas does not seems to be Create transport copy. I am using MPEG-2 .ts videos of tremendous size and waste of space, it would be nice to pull the bits i like out of the gigabytes i don’t, and streaming copy them to an exact replication .ts file that is much much smaller for storage and later true quality editting. Can I do this in Vegas somehow based on my Vegas edits? Can i cut 10GB of film from 200GB and export it to a 10GB true .ts copy?

Sorry, unfortunately it cant be done exactly like that within Vegas!

That’s why I still use MPEG Video Wizard. It’s the right tool for the job.

Yea, I guess that’s the latest version. The version I have still says MPEG Video Wizard but I guess that has been expanded into the DVD version. I also have MPEG-VCR from them which is a bare bones cutter.

And apparently you can really never go home again. MPEG Video Wizard, after a month using Vegas 13, feels as ancient and archaic as I thought Vegas was to MPEGVW. Also sound syncing was impossible. So using Vegas is there a way to approximate a transport file. What settings in render would leave me with, of absolute priority, the best possible quality equivalent to a transport file, while as a secondary priority using space efficiently with the rendered file. My goal being to edit down a 17GB transport file, to its usable 5-10GB is .ts measurements, that can then be re-editable and re-rendered later to a near perfect quality match as what i originally created from the original .ts
Not looking for perfect, but until Sony gets off their backsides and builds a proper transport export, what might be the closest approximation?

If the files are HD, try this:
- Select MainConcept MPEG2 as the output format
- Select the Blu-ray 1920×1080-60i, 25 Mbps video stream template
- Press Customize Template…
- On the System tab uncheck [_] Save as separate elementary streams
- On the Audio tab check [X] Include Audio Stream
- Optionally, give this new template a name like “1920×1080-60i, 25 Mbps Transport Stream” and save it
- Press OK
You’ll notice that the file extension has changed to .m2t for “MPEG2 Transport stream”. Render way.

Smart Trim tool in Vegasaur can do it (trim files w/o re-encoding, inside Vegas Pro)
