I’m using Vegas Studio, not pro, and trying to create slide shows with transitions. Are there any global settings for transitions, such as duration? I’d also like to add an assortment of “Push” or “3D” without adding one at a time. Any advise would be great.

In Vegas Studio this is very easy: Go to OPTIONS-PREFERENCES-EDITING and mark the AUTOMATICLY OVERLAP MULTIPLE….(And choose the number of frames to overlap)

Add your stills by double-clicking in the explorer. They will overlap with a crossfade. When you are done, select all the stills on the timeline and drag a transition of your choice to the timeline. That’s all.

That works great, thanks. Do you know if you can globally add an assortment of transitions that act randomly or do you have to add one at a time to mix them up.

To add random transitions in this way, you need to have the pro version of Vegas, which can handle scripting.

…and if you do decide to get Vegas 8 pro, I highly suggest you look at Untlimate S from Vasst. That program has some wonderful script choices for slide shows ala Ken Burn and other efects with a click of the mouse button.

Excalibur also does stuff like that. I have both and did some really cool slide shows for a few weddings I did.
