    Hello
I am currently completing a project that is educational, and intended for web viewing. I’m trying to keep it clear and sharp for tablet, and smartphone viewing. So my images are framed very tight so they will be large. ( Fill all of the frame ) Of course I did play some sections on my blueray player ( off a USB Stick not a blue ray disc)
As expected my Plasma TV cropped the image a bit. So now to be safe I have turned on the Safe Area overlay to be sure at least none of my text is cropped when playing on a TV. In vegas the outer Safe Area box looks pretty much as I would expect. But the smaller Box looks very very small. What is the function of the smaller box in the safe area overlay in Vegas? ( Vegas 12 Pro)
    Thanks
    Brad

Action safe is the outer box.
    title safe is the inner.

These are defaulted to 10 and 20% and you can change them in your video preferences. These are historical values from the CRT tube era.

In the modern digital era you can probably go to 5% for TV safe viewing. Actually my TV has a mode than completely drops the overscan and I must use this when viewing my nettop PC output on the TV. I’ll bet others have this as well.

No doubt others know tons more than me about why you have two safe settings. Is one safe and the other extra safe?

In my mind safe is safe and therefore you should only need one safe setting.

Thanks Norman. Very clear. Didn’t realize I could adjust in prefs.

Brad do take note though, that Vegas will not automatically ensure something is within those safe areas. These are INDICATORS to the editor. I’ve done work all the way through to DVD and then, and only then, realised I had got the Text to overlap out of the Text safe Areas.

    Just a warning.
