    Hi, I’m looking at purchasing a Dell 2005FPW native resolution 1680 X 1050.
Will the Vegas program allow me to use the full screen? Also I’m looking for a good PCI express video card that supports that resolution. Possibly the Nvidia quadro fx540 with video breakout, which will allow composite, s-video & component output. Thanks, Richman

The display resolution will be no problem. For outputting component, your best bet is probably directly-supported DeckLink cards. The best route for composite and Svideo is to transcode from firewitre through a camcorder or other digital A/V convertor.

Vegas will support any resolution used by Windows. For some reason, very few video cards support 1680×1050 resolution. This is a list at the Acer site of video cards they have confirmed support 1680×1050

I have an nVidia 6600, and it doesn’t support it. I therefore have to run at 1600×1050, which works fine. I do not think I will upgrade the graphics card yet for the extra 8k pixels 🙂

Thank you for your help, I assumed Vegas would work with that screen resolution, but I figured ask the experts! Dell has a sale currently on the widescreen LCD monitors 20″ $396 & 24″ $799 at even higher resolutions. Now I just need to order a new video card.
    Thanks,
