    Dear CreativeCow forum,
I once again turn to the expertise of this forum.

An often used feature on fx. various newschannels is when a thick line/bar emerges from one side of the screen (not starting outside the edge but appearing from e.g. a few cm from the edge)
    – and then grows towards the opposite side of the screen.

Often they add name and title of an interviewed person in this bar after a few seconds.

Can this be done in Vegas Pro (11)?

I tried to show it schematically below at 3 time-points

    (i) –

    (ii) ——————–

    (iii) ———————————————————-

    SOME TEXT
    (iv) ———————————————————-

Afterwards I want to add text and use 3D-track motion etc. but I got that part covered.

Søren, yes, most, most definitely. It’s called a Lower Third. Here’s a whole bunch of easy to follow COW resources to follow up on. If you want even MORE, then pop this: “Lower Third” in the SEARCH box above. Read anything by John “Johnny” Rofrano and view his tutorials too.

If you want to see some of my output, then I’d be pleased to share.

    Cheers

    Grazie

Excellent, I’ll for sure be using some of that.

Also I would very much like to see of your output! Could you provide me with a link 🙂

However, I was also considering the more general “Drawing-a-bar” that starts from a point somewhere – and then grows in a random not perfect horizontal or perfect vertical direction.
    E.g. +x, -y, -z.

    Forexample
If you have made a skewed text that you made by 3D track motion that jumps in from the side.
2 seconds later you want a bar to start appearing below the left-most letter in your text, and grow towards the final letter in your text.
