Hey gang – thanks for an awesome site – a fantastic resource for Vegas editors.

Sorry if this appears to duplicate a prior thread – but I’ve read through it and the 64 bit version of Vegas Pro was not addressed.

Has anyone gotten Mercalli (or any other footage stabilizer for that matter) to work with the 64 bit version Vegas Pro 9.0?

I’m running Vista Business 64 bit. I actually tried installing Mercalli to both the Program Files X86 and the plain Program Files folders but I cannot get it to appear in the effect list (where Pixelan, Creative Blue and SONY comfortably hang out), let alone attempt to get it to work.

I guess one potential workaround might be to install the 32 bit version of Vegas Pro as well and simply bring the project file for stabilizing at the last minute – but that raises enough questions for an entirely new topic – Can the two versions of Vegas peacefully co-exist as they install to different locations, are the .veg files compatible between the two versions, etc…

I’d rather just use Mercalli in 64 bit – is this possible? Or is ProDad in the world of Boris when it comes to 64 bit development.

Thanks in advance for the consideration and assistance!

Not that I know of. I just tried to pull up the new deshaker GUI and couldn’t get it to work in 64 bit Vegas. It will work in 32 bit just fine.

Another reason to install the 32 bit is you are able to use more plugins than you would in 64 as most are not coded for 64 bit editors.

Yes, this is actually the only workflow that works. Nothing works with Vegas Pro 64-bit except NewBlueFX, iZotope audio plugins, and sctipts like Ultimate S Pro and Excalibur. I would plan on working with the 32-bit version for now.

Pixelan’s Spicemaster works for me in Vegas 9 Pro 64 bit as well.

So my workaround will work? I can have both versions insalled on my Vista 64bit machine, and the 32bit version of Vegas will not only peacefully co-exist with its 64bit brother, but load its .veg files and will also run under the 64 bit version of Vista?

Hate to go there – but it appears there are no alternatives, other than convincing investors that the annoying camera shake is meant to purposefully add that cool, NYPD Blue gritty realism…

Yes, Vegas Pro 32-bit & 64-bit coexist and open the same project files. Of course, if you add a plug-in to the 32-bit .veg file that isn’t in the 64-bit version it will cause an error.

Well – I guess that is that.

Off to install 32 bit Vegas. And perhaps whine incessantly to the support folks at ProDad.

Thanks John and Jeremy for taking the time to help!
