I’m having capture and playback problems with the above set-up in my Dell Precision workstation T7400.

    1) I can capture beautiful video with Machina using either SDI or component Betacam SP input. It plays back fine in Machina too, without any AV sync problems.

    2) If I try to capture the same sequences with Vegas, the video captures but no audio.

    3) If I import AVIs captured in Machina into Vegas, the video looks compressed (not as crisp) and the audio and video are a few frames out of sync.

Need to dump Vegas for Premier?

Thanks for any help or suggestions!

Have you tried this in premiere and gotten excellent results?

I downloaded a trial version of Premier, and the setup is definitely more straightforward than in Vegas. I can see that the Xena board is made to go with it.

With Premier, both video and audio captures but I don’t hear audio from the balanced analog audio outputs. I can see the VU meters bouncing with the video playback, but hear nothing. Very confusing as Machina plays fine through those connections.

I’m routing through a Mackie mixer.

Well..i can say that your Xena configuration is more (geared)
designed to work with premiere, after effects or combustion.
So the fact that things are not smooth using premiere either
is proof that its not a Vegas issue….so you probabaly need
to do some tweaking in your capturing workflow or contact them
about the audio & video quality issue when placed in an NLE, by
    filling this out.
