I’m working on a project with two different source formats (martial arts tournament demonstration highlights)

1: 2/3 of source is ripped from crappy DVD footage by a colleague originally recorded in Hi8. 1/3 in HD from my Sony Handycam

2: I’ve set rendering threads to 1, Dynamic RAM preview to 100MB, Thumbs to show in video events to None, closed Preview Pane, and display the project media as icons only.

3: Computer is up to speed and newer with 8GB of RAM, 2.8Ghz intel core i7 CPU, 64-bit OS (XP Home Premium SP1) and a 50% empty HD. Project media is native to the HD. All updates except for one annoying Java update I’m avoiding have been performed.

4: Simple cross fades between cameras and no effects, embedded or 3rd party.

It crashes anywhere from immediately to 1/3 of the way through the render. I’ve tried MPEG-2 (my personal preference) and even AVI. I’ve tried rendering to a new track (that doesn’t work at all), and I’ve tried to C&P to a new project. This is a one-hour video and my sensei is starting to get pretty PO’d at me that this is taking so long.

    Any help is VERY appreciated.
