    Hello everybody!
I want to install VP11 parallel to VP9.
Reason: I am using Vegas Pro 9 since about two years (it is a downloaded software- hence I have no CD/DVD).Actually Vegas Pro 9 is running fine, but the special offer (Nov 11) was seducing :-)me.
Reason why I would like to run both for a while ,are the many complaints / problems I noticed in this forum.
    Thanks a lot in advance
    Rob

No problem having more than one Vegas version running on your
system. And as in your situation, i would recommend you
    have them both.

    Hello again
Many, many thanks ansering so quickly!!!!!!! But:
I should define my question much more precisely:
    1) I have installed VP9 by downloading (bougth a Sony Cam,software inclusive)
    2) the same is valid for VP11(as an update to Vegas Pro9)
    My question is
How can I install this update, without overwriting VP9 (and loosing it. Maybe not a very smart question, but it’s a problem for me.
Eventhough i bougth this update (as well as the VP9)
    I haven’t been successfull reaching Sony’s technical service-it simply doesn’t work 🙁
    many regards
    Rob

You should not lose v9. I have been upgrading since V9 and have 9, 10 and 11 all installed, side by side.

My system specs: Intel i7 970, 12GB RAM, ASUS P6T, Vegas Pro 10e (x32/x64), Windows 7 x64 Ultimate, Vegas Production Assistant 1.0, VASST Ultimate S Pro 4.1, Neat Video Pro 2.6

I cannot see what is making this difficult for you.
Just install Vegas 11 and as you have vegas 9 already,
both of them will be there.Nothing will be overwritten.

The update is not replacing anything. When you update, Sony is selling a new license to use the new version you are buying. Your older licenses are completely legal to keep on using, or even sell or give away to someone else.

I just gave my brother my Version 9 license and faxed the information to Sony. When my brother installs Version 9 and registers it, as far as Sony is concerned, he is the licensee. The only restriction is that the Version 9 serial number that I transferred to him can not be used for a future upgrade because it was already used for my upgrade to Version 11.

It may help to understand that each version installs into it’s own folder. You can have any number of versions of Sony Vegas on your PC at the same time because each one has a separate and distinct installation path. As others have said, nothing will be overwritten.

It is probably important to point out that you should always back up your computer before any major software installation. My system is set up to do an incremental backup each morning so that if anything I install during the day causes my computer to stop working, I can immediately go back to yesterday, or last week, or even last month. If you don’t have a recent backup of your system, you should do it now.
