April 27, 2012 at 1:01 pmI have Vegas Pro 11 (64 bit) – running on Windows 7 64 bit machine.
The program kept crashing when using things like Title & Text, Chroma Keyer and even Color balance. It also crashed with NewBlue Plug in for Vegas.
Sony had me do all sorts of things – and it kept crashing.
On April 27, 2011, – I suddenly tried changing Vegas Pro 11 by using WINDOWS compatibility feature. (Right click the Icon of Vegas, choose Properties and then choose the Compatibility Tab) – The compatibility options are:
Windows Service 2008
Windows Vista
Windows Vista (Service Pack 1)
Windows Vista (Service Pack 2)
Windows 7I decided on “Windows Vista”
THEN when I ran Vegas Pro 11 – both the Chroma Keyer and Color balance worked – and so far the program did NOT crash. I got it to render out too. I also tried “Titles & Text” and Vegas did NOT crash. NewBlue plug in also did NOT crash.
Could all this verify that Window 7/64 bit and Vegas Pro 64 bit are in conflict? I just sent off an email to Sony Support.

June 13, 2012 at 3:40 pmSOLVED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
For me anyways and I hope this helps.
Turn on compatibility mode and put it to windows 7.
I was getting constant crashes when adding and removing effects. Even with GPU disabled. I tried different combinations of video drivers and Vegas builds with very little luck. I got used to saving my project after doing every little thing. I read all these forums nothing worked. I thought about buying a new graphics card or switching NLEs but I’m glad I didn’t now.
As a last resort (should have been first resort!) I was gonna contact Sony. While looking at their support website there was a new post in their knowledge base that said “Stability with third party effects.”

Problem solved Hallelujah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

August 9, 2012 at 4:59 amHaving the same trouble…
I’m on Windows Vista with a brand new video card.
Been using Vegas Pro 11 on this computer for months. Never any rendering trouble.
Suddenly, this week, I can’t complete a HD render in any format just becuase of the simple Sony “Flash” plugin. (not a third party plugin) That’s where the render would stop, freeze and crash. When is Sony Vegas Pro ever going to get it right? When will they ever come out with smooth rendering software?

August 23, 2012 at 6:26 amTo save yourself from a headache, do not not mix Flash video with any other type of video file on the timeline.
Wherever the Flash file came from, render it in a compatible format with the other clips on your timeline first. Then edit accordingly. ~MonteMonte Krause

August 23, 2012 at 5:34 pmVegas Pro 11 crashes no matter what format I’m using. No matter how many times I re-boot… No matter how many times I upgrade… I really love Vegas Pro 11 very much so please don’t take me this wrong. The program accomidates so many kinds of editing options, making the creative process possible in so many ways, so I’m sure you can understand my frustration.

December 15, 2012 at 2:02 pmHello Guy’s,
I was alos suffering from Sony Vegas stability issues
when the GPU rendering was active.I found a solution that works for me:
Go Under the Nvidia control panel,
change the power settings from adaptive to most power.
This will avoid the constant gpu frequencies changes during the rendering of Vegas.
Tested with a 660ti, Under win 7 64 bits see attached screen (french). -
