Recently purchased Vegas Pro 10, installed 64bit version, registered,
updated to 10.0c, imported a media file, hit File – Render As
and the app closes instantly. No crash dialog, just *poof* gone.
Same no matter what type of file I import. Size, fps, quality.. etc
No matter what I do, it always dies the moment I hit Render As.
    Machine is a Core i7 920 3.0Ghz with 6GB of memory.

I uninstalled any stray codecs, but I generally don’t have many,
and usually rely on ffdshow’s built in codecs. I uninstalled ffdshow to
be sure, but I don’t think I had a 64bit version installed anyway.
    No difference.

Anyone seen this? Have an idea how to cure?
I see a lot of “Vegas crashes” threads, but nothing that quite
matches my symptoms without any other extraneous stuff installed.

Try installing the 32bit version of Vegas 10, then see
if it disapears when you still hit render.

The 32bit version works fine, but I bought a reasonably fast quad core
64bit machine with a bunch of memory specially do to HD video editing
with a 64bit capable NLE. I can tell the 64bit version is faster
dealing with my HD clips and effects, I just can’t actually produce anything with it.
