Does anyone here have any experience using the Print to Tape function in Vegas (Im on 10) to a Beta SP? I’m using a AJA KONA LHI. The problem I’m having is with my black levels. Before I print to tape, everything is corrected to 7.5 IRE broadcast legal. After I print to tape through Vegas, my levels drop and get crushed. I believe it may be with the Sony YUV codec in the print to tape function. My workflow starts out in 720p material and edited in 720p. I’ve checked levels thoughout the process and they are holding. I just did a quick test and rendered it in the Sony YUV codec and the levels dropped. So it must be the codec, at least it looks that way. My workflow is I render the entire project to uncompressed 720p and then create a new project in NTSC standard 720 x 486 29.97. Everything conforms nicely but after the tape is printed, the waveform shows illegal color. Any ideas?
    Thanks

have you placed the broadcast filter on the output and then scoped it both on external and internal? They should match at that point.

Thanks for responding Douglas. Last year our external waveform monitor died and we haven’t replaced it as of yet. I just rendered out the spot and checked levels and they were fine. I then printed to tape (Beta SP through a UVW-1800) from the rendered uncompressed AVI. I then reingested the beta through the AJA Machina application and opened the AVI through Vegas. The reingested file shows the levels slightly below 7.5 but the histogram now shows values at 0. Any ideas?
Thanks again for your help. I do have your DVD on color correction and it has helped tremendously.
