  • Vegas Pan/Crop Tool Plugin “LE” ???

Posted by Jerry K. on December 1, 2005 at 5:48 am

    Hi,

Used to use a tool in Vegas for 3D control and effects – essentially, it worked as a pan/crop tool but had a very easy to use interface – sliders, dials…sound familiar???

Trying to track it down – had it before but it was on an earlier computer – new computer, upgraded software, trying to get things back to where they were…

I remember the tool was called, “something-something **LE**” The LE was at the end of the video/fx description.

Any help on the name of this tool/plugin and where to get it would be GREATLY appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Jerry

Sounds like you’re thinking of Satish’s PluginPac which has been discontinued.
The good news is that it’s been replaced by Wax.

Pluginpac has been discontinued but you can download it here :

However, you may want to also note that Track Motion now has 3D controls so it may no longer be neede.

On his PluginPac page, Satish says:

“PluginPac Plugins are no longer supported. A more advanced version of the plugins is available by the name Wax. The old PluginPac plugins are not supported anymore and development has been stopped. It is highly recommended that you download Wax if you are looking for plugins.”

Another good reason to get Wax instead.

I have had to use this 3D plug in just recent because I couldn’t figure how to get vegas 3D to spin 5 revolutions. Can anyone tell me how it’s done in vegas.

Also, despite many efforts, I never got wax to work, (it locks up vegas) so I’ve been using the old version. Any help here?

    Thanks.

Wax locked up Vegas for me (and many others) too.
The 3dLE plug in can be applied at the event level, without having to mess with track keyframes.
I’m wondering if it’s ok to share the plug in with other Vegas users since it was free to begin with (and given that there is no support or further development).
    Satish?

    Hope this helps

Spin which way? I’ve experience a similar problem in the past and want to see if it’s the same one. The “Newspaper Spin” tool in Excalibur, for example, will let you specify many turnes. However, I’m not sure if that’s the direction you’re wanting to spin.

    Charles,
Just enter the number 5 in the small box for rotation in 3DLE. It has a rotation symbol next to it with the degrees box below it for X,Y and Z. A negative 5 will rotate the opposite direction. Very easy at event level, track level and main output level.

    Cheers,

    Charles,
I forgot to add that you also need two keyframes for it to work. So you might go from 0 revolutions at that first keyframe and then 5 revolutions at the second keyframe.

Gary: Thanks, but I can get the 3dLE to work, that’s what I ended up using.

Gary & Edward: It’s vegas I can’t seem to spin an event either clockwise or cc, smoothly for about 5 revolutions.

If anyone needs this 3DLE plug in, because like me, Wax locks up Vegas, let me know here and I’ll email it to you. I also think Edward has it on his site.
