Vegas Only Imports Part of the Video
I have a long (~2 hour long) mp4 file that I’m trying to edit (in Sony Vegas 11) and export in parts. I’ve been doing well so far and even has exported some videos, but now I have reached a point in the video file where the video cuts out. It has a green screen on the little timeline preview and says “media offline.” I don’t think this is a codec problem, because the first half of the video works wonderfully. At about the 1 hour mark, it the video just vanishes (the audio is intact however). I’ve seen a lot of posts on this forum about entire files that won’t work because of codecs, but never one that just partially won’t work. Oh, another note: when I import it, it goes without complaining with a dialogue box or whatnot, but the file that is imported apparently has missing parts. How can I make the missing video come back?
This was recorded all together, and is not parts of a video stuck together. Thanks for reading, respond as fast as possible. Thanks!

Seem as if that video file is corrupted or something.

Yes, it plays perfectly through a media player. That’s what puzzles me the most about this. There seems to be nothing wrong with the file.

Where did the file originally come from (i.e. what kind of camera)?
Can you load it into a brand new project?
If you can, render it out in MXF format with the same settings as the original file. The quality loss will be minimal and Vegas likes MXF files. -
I’ve tried loading it into a new project and it does the exact same thing. I have to keep it as a mp4.

The file did not come from a camera, it came from a video capture device that hooks up directly to the source
