    In my Sony Vegas Studio HD Platinum 10 quick start manual on page 14 under Command Bar it states The command bar is displayed when you add a command to your project.
    Commands add metadata to media files to create effects such as closed captioning.

    Is this feature available?

    [William Fader] “Is this feature available?”

    Yes, but only for Windows Media closed captions. Not for broadcast captioning. For that you will need the Pro version of Vegas.

    It’s captioning for WMV files. I’ve never used it because I don’t ever render to WMV. Just look up closed caption in the help file and it explains how to add them. You just drop command markers and select WMCaption as the command type. The captions get embedded in the WMV file when you render and show up in Windows Media Player.

    Hey guys. Im using Sony Vegas Pro 10 and I discovered today on how to use the Closed Captioning Feature 🙂 placed all the words where I wanted them BUT the only unfortunate thing is, is how do I end the captioning??? I’ve searched google and youtube and I’ve found NOTHING on how to actually end the closed caption. The last CC on the “event” on the timeline just keeps playing through to the next “even” clip, whichever, and idk how to turn it off?? Does anyone know how to turn it off after the last CC? Thx 🙂

    Add an empty caption where you want the captions to stop.

    VASST Caption Assistant has a button for this plus a whole lot more and makes captioning quite easy. You might want to check it out.

    I tried adding the blank caption after the previous caption and the previous caption still plays through the blank caption. Also, the previous caption does eventually turn off, but it plays for a total of 16 seconds. I’m still confused on how to change this, or if there is a tool command somewhere, where I can change the duration maybe..? I unfortuantely don’t have the money to buy the VASST Caption Assistant, but it is a great recommendation 🙂 Thanks 🙂

    ALSO,
    I tried putting just one space so the caption will be blank, but when I try that, its like a bug and/or problem, because it’s like Vegas Pro 10 can’t compute what is happening, so as soon as I click ok on the command window, a Vegas Pro window pops up and says, “Vegas has stopped working and must shut down.” So there’s nothing I’ve found to fix it yet :s Thanks for the help 🙂

    Try this… create a caption with just this text:

    {EDM}

    That will clear the previous caption.

    I need to do closed captioning for broadcast, and upload to server.
    The Station says they accept MPEG2, AVI, MP4
    But I was under the understanding that Vegas 10e doesnt output broadcast captioning on SD. And the station does not accept the Sony MXF file. I need help. :/

    It looks like you just found a reason to upgrade to Vegas Pro 11.0. It will now imbed closed captions in SD MPEG2 files. https://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/vegaspro/workflow
