Hi Im new to the forum.

Okay heres my problem. When I start Vegas 7 it gets stuck right when it says “Initializing DirectX plug-ins” And thats it. Nothing after that. When I try to restart my computer I get a”rundll32.exe has to end” notice. And my computer cant re-start on its own. I have to press the button to restart. All of that only happens after trying to open Vegas. Other than that it can restart fine.

I even followed a suggestion I found here that had me going threw the task manager deleting some processes. Nothing.

I’ve done all the directx updates and checks. My sound and my video works fine when playing BF2 and watching youtube and such. So its not DX I think. I even installed a fresh install of XP on my other harddrive on the same computer and I get the same problem. I re-installed again just to make sure! I even reseated my memory. Even pulled one DIMM out at a time to see if maybe it was that. NOTHING!!! Vegas worked fine on this machine before. I just dont know what to do!

    Please help me

    Mike

It could be some directX effect you have intalled. I would look at programs you’ve installed since Vegas last worked.

Any clues? This happened to a friend of mine last night when he tried to install vegas 7 as well. He his running Vista. Vegas will hang up on initalizing direct x. I closed the program not responding window and vegas then loaded ok. Anybody know what’s going on?

On a related note, installing Vegas on Vista x64 does something nasty to DirectX. After installation when I launch dxdiag.exe, I get an error saying “Microsoft DirectX Diagnostic Tool has stopped working”. Updating DirectX 9 doesn’t help, System Restore is the only option to fix the problem.

This is what fixed it for me. I deleted the New Blue folder from the program files as well as from the registry. I restarted Vegas and …..voila! Then I re-installed the New Blue Plug ins. Hope that helped
