  • Vegas capturing not seperating clips in capture

Hi I’m having a problem that I didn’t used to have. I’m using Vegas 7.0b, WinXPSP2 and have the Panasonic DVX100A that I’m dumping footage from via firewire. The problem I’m having is that it’s dumping the footage into one huge clip rather than allowing me to seperate it into several different clips during the capture. Anyone?

    Thank you,
    Shawn Bossick

Is the clock in the camera set?

The date and time clock were turned off to not show date and time on film. As far as the timecode generator is concerned its set at factory defaults for the last 4 years.
I thought I once saw a command in Vegas, that stated if you wanted to capture your film in one large clip or seperate indivdual clips, for the life of me, I can’t find that command or option if it exists.

[Shawn Bossick] “The date and time clock were turned off to not show date and time on film.”

Just so you know, that’s not what Edward was asking.
    Is the internal clock set?
If not, it may be time to replace the button-sized battery that’s responsible for this feature.
Timecode is derived from this internal clock.
The date/time display is a completely different issue.

Thank you very much, I will take that approach and replace the battery.

Remember to set the DVX’s internal clock after you do that.
It won’t solve your current problem as the time data wasn’t there to begin with but you’ll be OK in the future.
BTW, this applies to ALL miniDV camcorders.
