  • Vegas as Audio Mixer: How to Turn off/on Audio Preview Slider ?

Posted by Francis Lee on December 18, 2018 at 9:56 pm

    – We are experimenter with using Vegas Pro as a multi-track audio mixer.
    – I Clicked View > Windows Layouts > Audio Mixing
    – to get to the proper view then… somewhere I clicked Show Audio Preview
    – and another “channel” (with a fader control) showed up labeled “Preview”
    – It is located in the top half of the screen right by the Audio Faders

    Now I can’t get rid of it…

    Questions:
1 – What is the “Audio Preview” used for?
2 – How can I turn it off so I have more horizontal room in the top half of the screen for Audio Faders?

    Thanks for any help.

Click View > Windows Layout > Audio Mixing
Then Click the “Properties & Layout” drop down (it is near the top of the screen it is the little arrow head pointing down… hover for name to fly-out)
    Then Click “Show Channels”
Then Click “Preview” to turn it on or off.

Maybe this will help others who, like me, had to struggle to find it 🙂

[Francis Lee] “1 – What is the “Audio Preview” used for?”

It allows you to set the volume when you preview media independent of the master volume. This comes in handy when you are auditioning ACID Loops in the media pool to hear how they sound. Sometimes they might be too loud and the preview slider lets you lower them.
