Vegas 9 on a laptop
Want to edit SD on a laptop maybe some HDV.
Need three video tracks, one with an alpha channel, then graphics on top of that. I want them to play in real time. Here is the computer -Core i7 930 cpu, 6 gigs of ram, I’d like to use external video drives through an esata(?) plug.https://www.cyberpowerpc.com/system/Xplorer_X7_Xtreme_S1_Notebook/
WHat do you think?

Shouldn’t be a problem at all. I’m running V9Pro on a fairly old dual core, and also on a MacBook Pro 1.83Ghz.
No antivirus, background apps kept to a minimum. Runs great. Even with AVCHD in Preview/Auto mode.Douglas Spotted Eagle

Thanks, that is encouraging. Wondering now just how much power I really need to get this done. Don’t want to spend more than I need to. Right now the Core i7 930 laptop is going to cost me around 2300.
If you were to build a new computer for mobile editing what would you do?
