Vegas 8.0 crashing problem
Posted by Videodude on August 18, 2007 at 1:29 amI have a hp pavillion dv6000 with vista and my sony vegas 8.0 crashes quite often. Sometimes it is just opening up the program and other times it is when I am editing. Any suggestions as to what I can do to prevent this?

August 18, 2007 at 3:46 amBe sure antivirus isn’t running, for starters. If you have a pavilion, are you sure you’ve got everything shut down in the background? Their OS/Startup is about as glutted as anything I’ve seen.

August 18, 2007 at 11:06 pmI have tried shutting down everything in the background and temporarily disabling the spyware/anti-virus and it still freezes up. This seems to definitely help but every once in a while it’ll freeze up or dump the memory. Any other suggestions?

If all else fails, reformat your harddrive and do a clean install of the Operating System. Of course I’m talking about the OS and not a restore disk that may have come with your computer. As DSE said HP’s software package adds alot of programs running in the background and you need to get that stuff deactivated. The resore disk will not give you a clean install. I may be corrected on this, but I don’t beleive that Vegas runs very good on Vista yet. XP is I think the better choice at this time. If this computer also lives on the internet it could be infested with adware, spyware, and whoknows-what-ware which can completly criple your computer.Regards, Rick.
