Vegas 8 unable to play past 17 minutes
I film using XDCAM HD (PDW 350)
I upgraded to 8.0c as I was interested in the multi camera stuff and better handling on XDCAM. Vegas 7.0 was great with Excalibur.
I’ve just filmed a show using SD 4 channel. The clip duration is 1hr 21 mins. Put it on the timeline at it plays fine until 17 mins when the sound goes. Then intermittent picture break up after. At first I thought the worst… file corruption but…
The files plays fine using the Sony MXF viewer and is fine on Vegas 7. So now I’m back to version 7 for editing that’s going well.
So what is the matter with 8.0? I’ve reinstalled it but it’s not working.
Any ideas?

I have just tried with the clip from the second half of the performance and , sure enough, this fails to play after 17:45 (exactly the same as the first).

17.45 minutes is about 4 GB. You may have some problem around that.

17.45 minutes is 4 GB using HDV ot DV. I am not sure about HDCAM.

Hmmm. I did wonder, but I’ve tried copying the files to other drives and even taking some work from a different project (still DV) and it’s always the same. AVI files are fine. Only problems with MXF.
