Vegas 8 HDV capture problem
I need to resolve this issue urgently:
I am capturing HDV (720/24p) footage directly from my JVC HD100U camera to Vegas (Win XP) in .m2t format. The original footage is fine (looks and sounds OK on the camera), so I know it’s an issue with the capture.
The first 30 minutes of footage captures fine with no glitches. Then, out of nowhere, the capture starts to break up and scene detection starts going crazy (it captures a new clip every second or two). I end up with hundreds of tiny little clips that are broken up from eachother. Even if the clips are strung together on the timeline, it looks and sounds choppy.
*There is no break in the footage when it starts to go bad during capture. There are no pauses, pans, tilts, etc.
Here’s what I’ve tried (nothing has worked):
-Rebooting computer & camera
-Minimizing hardware acceleration
-Capturing to both internal and external harddrives (both have ample space and are fast enough)
-Stopped and started capturing in various locations
-Disabling device control (so I control playback options manually on the camera)One thing I’ve tried (but it hasn’t worked) is downconverting the footage using the camera and feeding it to Vegas as an SD signal ( I’m not even sure if this is possible). Every time the video signal ends up scrambled on the camera LCD monitor and nothing is captured in Vegas.
Any suggestions? At the very least I at least need usable audio. Thanks in advance.
