  • Vegas 8 and Vista – Can’t adjust Video FX attributes.

Posted by Jacob Hobbs on June 8, 2008 at 4:50 am

I recently installed Vegas Pro 8 on a Vista 64-bit machine. When I drop a Video Event FX onto a track, it opens the window to adjust keyframes. I can add a keyframe, but there is no option to adjust the attributes of the event.

For example, if I drop the “News Print” FX onto a video, I can not adjust the size of the circles to make them larger or smaller. The same goes for the “Swirl” FX. There are no attributes to adjust, so I can’t animate it using keyframes.

All Event FX have this problem.

For whatever reason (this happens to numerous users and no one has found out why), your Keyframe window has been minimized.
Place your cursor at the bottom of the FX window.
It’ll be a 2-headed arrow at this point.
Now move the cursor slowly upwards until you see it change shape (appears to have an = sign between the two arrows.
Drag this upwards and you should see your missing window.

Thank you very much. That worked! The keyframe timeline window was maximized. I went to about the top of the window, and dragged it down. Now I see the Event FX options. I can’t believe it was that simple of a fix! I knew something was missing and something didnt look right. Yet I never would have guessed that it was just hidden.

    Thanks again!

Glad to hear that it worked.
As I said, this is an issue that seems to be happening more and more and no one can offer an explanation for this behaviour 🙁

Help me! That doesn’t work for me! I have Vista and Sony Vegas 8.0 Pro. I don’t want to install it again!
