Vegas 7 Umcompressed Problems!
Hello!
I want to render a project (NTSC DV) to AVI uncompressed in Vegas 7. It seems to render fine. But, Vegas splits the video into 6 different files instead of one (like it should!) I have a 300 gig hard drive…so I am not hurting for disk space.
If I can’t get this fixed…what is the BEST POSSIBLE render option after uncompressed (for best quality)?

I’ll bet that your drive is formatted as FAT-32 instead of NTFS.
Change it and you’ll be fine.
If this is your system drive, then I’d strongly recommend picking up a second drive (they’re cheap these days so get a 500 GB, either internal or external) and make sure it’s formatted as NTFS before you use it. -

Without knowing what kind of material you are working with and what your use will be, it’s not easy to answer that.
It’s unlikely that rendering as uncompressed will serve any purpose beyond creating huge files for you.

I am already rendering to an external drive (300 g). Is it to late to reformat?

I don’t mind the big film…I will export it to Quicktime DVPro in FinalCut.
What more information do you need to know?

It’s not too late to reformat if that’s the problem, but you have to move everything you wan to keep to some other drive first. Reformatting will erase the drive in the process.

You won’t need to re format, but you might want to keep a backup of your drive somewhere while you do this. Open up a command prompt window (popularly called DOS window, though there is no DOS in XP). Run the following command:
convert /FS:NTFS
: For example, if your drive is E:, then convert /fs:ntfs e:
