Vegas 7 and Canon GL1
Posted by Kevin Mccarthy on October 27, 2006 at 8:36 pmVegas 7 realy doesn’t like my GL-1. I can import, print to tape etc with no problem to my Sony ZU1 etc. but nothing seems to work with the GL-1. I CAN use the GL-1 on another computer using Vegas 6. Any ideas?

October 27, 2006 at 9:09 pmThanks Ed. Yes to all of the above. Infact the GL-1 will do a print to tape for about 1 or 2 minutes and then I get an error saying it can’t comunicate with the device. Yet in version 6 it works fine. BTW the choice in version 7 is DV or HDV. Version 6 is external etc.

October 29, 2006 at 3:56 amDo me a favour? Just check that you can still Print To Tape using another app and ON the same ‘puter? Like Windows Movie Maker? At the moment we are not testing like-for-like. By you testing on ANOTHER computer, albeit with V6, we still don’t know IF there is an INSTALL issue with V7 – yeah? See my point? Now if WMM prints to tape on your V7 computer then we can almost suggest there is at least a V7 install issue OR a working issue with V7. It wold have been interesting if you HAD V6 on this suspect computer?
Bottom line here is that there are STILL many GL1s out there, I would have thought by now we might have heard something. I have a XM2 and a Pannie Deck. I PTT to the deck not the camera. Oh, here’s another thought! Have you another dv camera to try out with your V7 install?
So, there are some “tests” you can carry out – good luck.

October 30, 2006 at 2:52 amVers 7 works very well with the Sony camera using the same firewire cord drives etc. Other decks work with this computer as well. The Gl-1 works with other computers. It is just ver 7 and the GL-1 that don’t paly well together.
