Vegas 6.0c Markers and DVDA 3.0c Chapters
I’m attempting to create a wedding DVD with three thumbnails on the Menu page, Vows, Photo Session, and Reception. I’ve been at this for hours reading the Contents and Index……experimenting etc. No luck. I’m sure it’s just a small thing I’m missing, but I can’t seem to figure out how to get DVDA 3.0c to recognize my Chapter markers from Vegas 6.0c. Initially I created the first thumbnail, then copied and pasted two more versions of it, thinking I could change the start time of each thumbnail to the start time of each of the Chapter Markers, not so! Changing the start time only changes the frame that is visible in the thumbnail. Would I be correct in assuming that I have to use Scene Insertion for this to work, and if so, how? I know in the end this will be an extremely stupid question, but I for the life of me can’t figure out what I’m doing wrong. Any help in this regard, greatly appreciated!! It would save me hours of frustration if anyone can point me in the right direction. I don’t want to have a thumbnail on my Menu Page called Scene Selection that goes to a page where I can have my 3 Chapters set up, any way around this?

Right-click your media in the Project Overview and choose Insert Scene Selection. This will create a list based on your markers in the Overview. Then just drag the ones you need over to the menu.

Thank you Gary, for your quick response…………but doing that only creates a fourth thumbnail, not what I wanted. Or am I perhaps not understanding your instructions?

Backing up a bit…
Do you see the chapter markers in the Media timeline in DVDA? It would be no big deal to place them since you have so few. The ususal way to do this is to check the ‘Save project markers in media file’in the Mpeg render dialog.Gary Kleiner

Well that is part of the problem, all I see in the Timeline, is my menu picture and the audio track I’ve choosen to loop during the menu. I can’t figure out how to see the Timeline of the actual MPEG2.

Double-click the media file either in the menu or the Project Overview.

Ah ok……………..now I can see my MPEG2 in the Timeline, thank you. Hitting the Load Markers button, also now shows me my Markers. But I am still at at a loss as to where to set the start time of Photo Sessions or Reception. I’m almost there………….thank you so much!!

As I wrote before, the Scence Selection has an entry for each marker. Use the ones that correspond to the chapter you need to make your menu buttons.

Yes……….thank you so much Gary. I see in the Action tab under Destination Chapter I now have the option to select Vegas Markers! Incredible…………I may haven’t said this enough, but you are truly “Da Man”!! I couldn’t have figured this out on my own. Actually four hours I wasted trying to do it by myself. In less than a half-hour you solved it completely. Talk about real-time interaction!! Well, back to creating for me…………..thanks once again Gary!
