I am new using Vegas and I am having difficulty creating a smooth crossfade between events. The audio pops and the video skips. The problem happens at the beginning or ending of the crossfade. There are times it works and there are times it doesn’t. What am I doing wrong?

    Thanks!

It sounds like you are seeing a slowdown in the frame rate of the preview.

On a reasonably fast computer, a simple dissolve shouldn’t really slow things down too much.

You can either lower your preview resolution with the dropdown menu on the preview window, or select the area over the transition and hit Ctrl/B to do a RAM render to get better preview results.

Do you have your program and video files on different hard drives? If not, that could be the problem. I just installed Vegas on a system that is not too much greater than the minimum system requirements and I am amazed at the power of the real time effects.
