Is Vegas 6 still operating an internal 8 bit RGB pipeline for everything that comes through that isn’t passthrough DV?

Are the provided effects and plug-in builder SDKs still going to be 8bit RGB oriented preventing anything regarding this aspect of Vegas from changing any time soon?

I guess 8bit RGB uncompressed AVI and untouched DV are still the only “native codecs” in Vegas. Everything else is squidged in and squadged out however un-noticable this appears to be?

I ask because I would recommend Vegas to folks I know who run with 8bit YUV 4:2:2 equipment (some of which have RGB 10bit SDI sources). They’d be scared of contouring or quantisation noise despite Vegas’ 2048×2048 resolution independence and frame interpolation technologies.

I’m still impressed and almost as happy as when I went from VegasVideo3c to Vegas4+DVDA1.
“Soccer-Dads” can now do multi-angle DVDs!

    Well done Sonyic Picture-Foundry.
