Hello there, I’m not pretty good on english but will try my best.

I live in Brazil and I have imported a stand alone capture card that can record diretcly on USB thumb. The problem is that it generate this kind of file:

I’m new at codecs but i’m tech savy. Already tried the e-mail support from the card but no answers at all.

Some days ago when i tried to import the vídeo to Sony Vegas it came with a message not sayng much that tells it cannot handle this type of file. Searched the web and read something about quick time(I already had K-lite mega). After installing quick time, sony vegas was able to load the file, BUT what happened is that it created a LOT of artefactics that i can’t give a techynical name. You can a sample on this video that I uploaded on Youtube:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C0nwKNteXZI

But this one was very low. I have other videos on dark places that have much more erros. I was reencoding then using another software but as there are dark places the reduction on the quality is very notable, even using the SAME video specs like rates and resolutions.

Someone knows how to handle this AVC encrypted file?

Sorry if I did anything wrong, I couldn’t find the “read me first” page 😀

    Thanks in Advance

[Ricardo Farah] “I already had K-lite mega”

I’m going to guess that the K-Lite Mega Codec Pack is what has messed up your computer and no amount of uninstalling it is going to fix it. Try uninstalling K-Lite, uninstall Vegas Pro, reboot the computer, re-install Vegas Pro and NEVER install ANY codec pack on your computer again.

If that doesn’t fix it then it’s not fixable because MP4 files should play fine in Vegas Pro. You may have to re-install Windows to rid yourself of the damage that K-Lite Mega has done.

Sorry i forgot to update here with the info that I have formated my computer yesterday.

In contact with Happauge support they said that tested with a fresh install of windows and only vegas and quick time and everything worked fine. But when trying to do the same thing, i got the same problem. videos just got the aspect of the images I posted early.

So I think the only way out of this is knowing how to configure this codecs specific, but unfortunetely I don’t have this understanding right now.

Unless it is something with my personal profile on windows, cause I have it separated from the SSD where vegas and windows are instaled and I did not formated the HDD. But as far as I know that is no such files or configurations related to codecs neither sony vegas out of the system folders like “Program files”

You might be able to re-wrap the files which should be very quick. Try a utility like tsMuxeR that can re-mux the file into a new container. See if you can make a .TS (transport stream) file and see if that plays better in Vegas Pro.

BTW, I have a Happauge HD PVR and the MP4 files don’t play well in Vegas Pro. I capture .TS files instead.

Oh good that You have one too. I have the Rocket one. I have no problem at all while using MP4 files recorded to the computer. This problem happens only while recording to the USB thumb(pen drive).

I tried recompile with Any Video Converter but the scenes i have recorded have dark scenários wich got about 20% reduction of fidelity on the dark places. Things i can see on the original video i can’t if i recode this.

I am without monitor using computer on the television thats why i’m using stand alone mod for now. But I won’t be using that on next month.

I will try the method You mentioned and let You know the results.

    Thanks.

I think you just proved that something is wrong with the captured files. If it’s blowing up programs that can normally read MP4 files then it’s the files that are the problem. I would ask the Happauge guys you spoke to, to try tsMuxeR and see if their files load.

It also could be a problem with the USB thumb drive. Is it fast enough to write the video files? Maybe the USB drive itself is corrupting the files?

I don’t think so. I have used the same USB thumb before.

I have done firmware update on the Rocket. I think after that something have changed. And i think I know what. The track audio from the gameplay and the microfone are in the same track. Before the update i got the microfone and audio on separate tracks.

Also I can playback normally and Any Video Converter can load it and convert it. The only problem is that I will lose quality on shadows, thats why I wanna know a way to make vegas understand it.

Sounds like you’re zeroing in on the problem. Good luck!
