November 23, 2012 at 7:54 amI am experiencing some wierd playback as well, the Preview image when I am playing back seems to bleed allover the place. it becomes a smugged mess that then locks up. The video driver dropped out and back in and the whole thing locks up. I just loaded this a few days ago and just did the upgrade. I went back to version 8 that I had with no problems.

November 23, 2012 at 5:20 pmI still have the open case with Sony software support but expect the holiday has slowed them down even further. Will keep this thread updated as developments warrant. Also enlisted one of their training development partners to try and get a response. Actually, their lack of further response to the details tells me they very likely recognize there is a problem and they do not have an answer as of yet. That has been their pattern over the years.
Meanwhile, just read a disturbing article that both Panasonic and Sony have had their debt ratings cut to “junk” status…seems these venerable, iconic brands are really struggling in this tough economy. First the Hostess Twinkie…what’s next?

November 23, 2012 at 5:56 pmI had the same problem, before I was using vegas 9 with no problem, update to Vegas 12 and take 5 times more the render and experience a lot of problems, so, reading here, DISABLED the GPU accelerationd, and performance increased much, I have a GTX 570, I think a good card, Can’t believe Vegas cant take advantage of it 🙁 I’m kind of dissapointed

November 23, 2012 at 6:30 pmVegas is supposed to support the GTX series of cards and does, but what I am finding more and more as I test this issue is that with multiple takes in the timeline, Vegas 12 has a big problem rendering on the fly for playback.
Turns out, with GPU Acceleration enabled, a single take in the timeline (from a project already completed), can playback up to Best-Full without an issue. As soon as you load up the whole project with all the takes and try to playback, even with Preview-Draft, if you “touch” the timeline, Vegas hangs and has to be killed.
AND, I just installed the latest NVIDIA GTX beta driver released 3 days ago, so that didn’t help a bit.

November 23, 2012 at 7:12 pmYes, I think CUDA with this GTX 570 is not working as it should, other software that take advantage of my CUDA works better using it, not the same with Vegas 12, too bad, and support from sony does not help at all, I disable GPU in Vegas until a new update of Vegas came.

November 24, 2012 at 5:13 amExactly the same problem on playback, hearing the sound but just white screen in place of the visuals.

November 24, 2012 at 6:58 pmI’ve just installed Windows 8 in a dual-boot configuration on my PC, having the luxury to do so.
Vegas Pro 12 build 394, 64-bit, crashes on playback as on Windows 7 with one big difference:
Windows 8/Vegas detected and intercepted the crash and I was able to submit detailed crash information about what the PC was doing at the time, and what Vegas was doing, so hopefully that will provide Sony with more information about what they need to do to fix this big bug!
Turning off GPU Acceleration still resolves the trouble, for now.
