    Hi folks,

I’ve spotted several people are tearing their hair out about recent Vegas crashing, so a solution here in case you come across this.

This was happening to me a few days ago and I did all the uninstalling, Windows roll-backs and preference re-setting. The problem has been flagged on this forum I believe, but in case anyone else is having a problem there is a simple solution.

FYI: I’m using Windows 7 x64, AMD Radeon HD6800 video card – latest drivers. Latest Vegas Pro 12 (build 864)

The problem is being caused by Vegas failing to build thumbnails from the audio tracks. Simply open a project without audio, set the Project Media window to display List or Details (not thumbnails), and hey presto: it goes stable.

4 hours well spent in my case, thanks Sony. If Sony know they have a glitch on a release(and hey-ho stuff happens) why can’t they pop-up a window saying so (as they do with updates) rather than letting us find out for ourselves (or not).

BTW: Is it me or is the preview speed/quality in Vegas still poor even with the supposed leveraging of the ‘awesome power of Open CL cards’. I’m a long-term Vegas fan, but this aspect is not really impressing me much folks!

Try deleting all sfk and sfl files – Vegas will regenerate these as it needs them.
