    Helloo!

    So, I have just downloaded Sony Vegas 12 on my new laptop, and I was trying to start editing a video. I saved a bunch of clips that I emailed to myself from my iPhone, but when I went to use them in Vegas, they said I needed to download quicktime and then they gave me a link to do that! So I was like, alright, I’ll download this quicktime. So I downloaded it, and then I went back to try dragging my clips from the explorer into the tracks, and I got the same error message! Which is totally dumb because on my old laptop (which exploded long story) I never got this type of message.

    Does anyone know what’s wrong? Do I have to run quicktime a certain way to activate it? And if it’s something about codecs please explain very simply because I don’t know what that is.

    Thanks!!

    Try closing and then reopen Vegas.

    Make sure its the latest version of Quicktime you installed properly,
    and for added surety, restart your computer.

    For some Quicktime codecs you need the pro version.

    These are usually not found on common types of Quicktime video clips so I would be sure to try the former posted suggestions first before I shelled out the $$ for the pro version.

    Good luck,

    [Graham Bernard] “Try closing and then reopen Vegas.”

    That would be my suggestion too. If you just went to the link and downloaded and installed QuickTime, but never restarted Vegas Pro, then Vegas has no idea that QuickTime was installed AFTER it started. Restart Vegas and all should work fine.

    Hi;

    Steve Rhoden’s suggestion does the trick. Have to restart Windows, not just Vegas.
