Vegas 11. No sound in DVD

Hello once again,
I’ve used a Vegas 11, and would like to render so that the result can be burned into a normal-playable DVD disk using either Nero (7) or Windows DVD Maker (W7 Pro).
I tried rendering as MPEG2, and using either program the DVD ends up as a “mute” (no audio) DVD.
I could use some help as to what render-settings to use. (for ordinary NTSC 4:3 best quality.)….there are so many choices…!

If you rendered using one of the DVD Architect templates but you’re not using DVD Architect that’s your problem. Programs like Nero are expecting the Audi to be included in the MPEG2 file. Use one of the standard NTSC DVD templates which should include audio. You can always press the Custom button and check the Audio tab to make sure the audio is included in any template.

I think its because you are rendering out using one of the
DVD Architect Templates, Which wont include any audio…
Try the DVD NTSC Template.

You pointed out exactly what I was doing wrong.
(I did try the NTSC-DVD as well as the NTSC-MPEG-2 settings and they both worked OK, in making a DVD disk using Windows DVD maker. I could not tell the difference. Is there any?)

Yea, the only difference is that one doesn’t contain an audio stream because you really want to render the audio as a separate AC3 stream for maximum quality because MPEG2 audio is not part of the NTSC DVD spec. While some burning software allows you to use it, there is no guarantee that it will work on all players.
