I got a HD footage that I needed to edit, but the aspect ratio was square, so when I changed to widescreen I’ve got the annoying black vertical lines at the sides as you see in the screenshot 1. So when I changeed the aspect ratio to 16:9 they disappear, but then I get the vertical lines on the video itself all over the footage (screenshot 2 / click on the screen to see more detailed version). Any idea how how to solve this problem guys?

    Thanks, Katrine.

Is this the only video in the project?
If it is, setting your project properties to exactly match your source video will eliminate the black bars without you having to do anything.
The lines you’re seeing are interlace lines and my guess is that they’ll disappear if you set your Preview window to Best/Full.

Thank you! It worked, changed the project properties to the same parameters as the video. <3

Glad to hear that was the solution.
That fix is one that is commonly overlooked yet can make a big difference in all kinds of things.
