Vegas 10 – Unstable. Anyone agree?
Hi everyone –
I can’t seem to get any stability from Vegas 10. Does anyone agree?
Vegas 9 is rock solid but Vegas 10 crashes, says it hasn’t got enough memory to render and has all sorts of instability issues with me.
I am using Windows 7 32 bit. 6 Gig of physical RAM but only 3 gig usable.
Does Vegas 10 need more grunt than Vegas 9 did?
i.e., if I install more RAM and use Windows 64 bit will it be ok?-Frank

Then you’d need to use 64bit to get to use the extra RAM. Also you’d need to consider foregoing any 32bit plugins. People are still waiting for some 3rd parties to get 64bit versions out.
But, in essence 64bit, making use of more RAM could be working, that may not mean it is stabler than 32bit, it would just be doing the same stuff with more grunt. Does that make it more efficient?

I’m finding that Vegas Pro 10c is fairly stable. It does still crash more that 9 did but it’s far better than 10a or 10 was.

Why would you buy 6GB of RAM and then install a 32-bit OS that can only use 3GB? BTW, Vegas can only see 2GB of that so you are really wasting money there. As Graham said, you really need to be using Windows 7 64-bit.

There is no need to buy more RAM because you are not using 1/2 or the RAM you already have. All you need to do is buy Windows 7 64-bit and you will instantly double your RAM and see a difference when working with Vegas.

I’m not seeing any instability… but then my workflow hasn’t changed in quite a long time.
What is your workflow and what formats are you working with?
