Vegas 10 Pro won’t play any video files
Just upgraded from Vegas Pro 9 to 10. For the most part, it works great and preview of AVCHD projects is WAY better than it was in 9.
But that said, I have had two instances now where Vegas suddenly refused to play ANYTHING. Clicking a file (tried h.264 as well as DV-AVI and MPEG2) in explorer to preview or placing the file on the timeline resulted in no video and the cursor did not move on the timeline when I hit PLAY. If the video was not the same aspect ratio as the preview window, the window would re-size when I hit play but nothing would play. The first time it happened I re-started Vegas and all was well. But the second time, nothing worked short of a re-boot, which fixed it.
I was able to re-create the symptom by unplugging my (ASIO) sound card, so maybe Vegas lost track of the sound card? I have it set to use the ASIO driver directly, bypassing the Windows controls. If it happens again, I’ll try switching the audio device to “Windows Sound Mapper” and see if play resumes.
Anyone else have this issue?
