Vegas 10 dont use whole potential of my hardware?

Since you mentioned this… the product is called Vegas Movie Studio HD.

This is because Vegas Movie Studio is a 32-bit application and no 32-bit application can see more than 2GB of memory regardless of how much memory is physically present in your PC. (note: there are 32-bit applications that are Large Address Aware and can see more memory buy Movie Studio isn’t one of them)

That’s correct. You would need to buy Vegas Pro 64-bit to use the full memory addressability of your computer.

That’s also correct. The only thing that is GPU accelerated is compressing to AVC/H.264. All of hard work of creating the frame of data from multiple composited tracks is not GPU accelerated. No one is seeing big numbers here so it’s not your PC or anything.

Yes, those are the only two modes supported by Movie Studio. You need to buy Vegas Pro to get the other modes.

I was thinking about buying After Effects cs5 but the european prices are just radiculous! over 1300 euro is like madness. Thats around full 3-months payments in my country (without subtracting any costs of living). I wonder why they charge so much in Europe while in States its around 900$? Is that just greed or some european regulations and additon costs for Adobe?

You’d have to ask Adobe. Some things that come to mind is that the dollar is so much lower than the Euro, they are equalizing for the profit margin. They might also feel that support costs are higher over in your area. But these are just assumptions made from experiences in the software trade in the past.

I think you’ll find that Vegas Video PRO 10.c is worth the investment as opposed to the expense of Adobe’s products, if cost is an issue. Not to say they aren’t good products, they are. But Sony is offering a lot of value for the money, given having used FCP and Vegas for over a year now.

My impression is that the Euro is worth more than the dollar, so the product should be cheaper in Euros. I doubt that the explanation is Adobe greed. My guess is that it is taxes. The European countries take a big tax bite when you buy things, and probably an even bigger bite when its an American product.
