hiya all, i’m making an animation using vector paint. I’ve got a number of strokes animating on one layer and just wondering if there is a simple way of moving the start point of an individual stroke? I know i could copy and paste it to its own layer and move it that way but it would be great to know if there’s a way of keeping it on its original layer??

    Any clues??

    Ta!

Use the Vector Paint selection tool in the composition window.
Select the paint stroke and drag it to the new position.

thanks for that – but sorry – dont think i explained myself properly. Im wanting to know if there is a way of moving the start point of the animation back or forward in the timeline? I have multiple strokes animating on one layer and want to move one so that it starts a couple of seconds earlier. Is there a way to do this without moving it to its own layer?

Also wondering if there is a simple expression i could use for the following:
I have an animation of a phone ringing – goes for 2 seconds – The whole animation runs for one minute and every say 10secs or so i want this phone ring animation to play again.

    Thanks heaps.

There are ways to do that using keyboard commands.
Select the paint stroke(s) and press
    [ – to set in-point, or ] – to set out-point (same as for a layer)
or use cut and paste (paste at the new in-point).

The effect must be active (UI in Comp window) and the comp window must be in focus.
This used to work fine but I am not sure how it works in AE7.

thanks heaps for the help jens… tried both those ops. The [,] options seem to only move the layer – i cant seem to apply them to just the stroke. And the cut paste just pastes it back in the same place no matter where i have the timeline marker.

    Any other ideas??
