    Hello all,

I am working on a project that requires me to bring in slow motion footage shot on the HD Panasonic Varicam into my SDI Avid. From what I can gather I will need a piece of hardware called a “Frame Rate Converter” to be able to see the slo-mo footage… is this right?

I was going to use a Pana 1200A HD deck to do the capture and downconvert but I’m wondering if the 1700 deck has a built in frame rate converter?

Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

    Sorry no.

The latest versions of Avid’s software do allow you to do this over firewire. otherwise you will need the Hardware FRC or you could try having one of your FCP friends convert the footage for you.
